Sci-Fi Fans Get Chance to Name the Rocket Ship in Nationally-Syndicated Comic Strip Hit Brewster Rockit: Space Guy!™

Rocket Naming Contest to be Held at 2006 World Science Fiction Convention in Anaheim, CA on August 23 - 27, 2006

Chicago, IL, June 26, 2006

Brewster Rockit: Space Guy!, the hit sci-fi parody comic strip syndicated by Tribune Media Services, has officially launched the 'Name the Rocket' contest, scheduled for this year's L.A.con IV, at the World Science Fiction Convention, in the Anaheim Convention Center, August 23 - 27. The contest is part of an exhibit created by Brewster's fans that includes a 10-foot tall papier maché representation of the rocket positioned in the center of the convention hall.

"Brewster Rockit fan Casey Bernay approached the committee about building a 10-foot rocket a few months ago," said Jerome Scott, L.A.con IV Special Events Director. "We thought it was a great idea, and Tribune Media Services followed up with a suggestion for the "Name the Rocket" contest as a way to recognize Brewster's terrific fan base."

Brewster Rockit: Space Guy! is the hysterical space adventure comic strip featuring Brewster Rockit as an unlikely captain woefully ill-prepared to lead--and that's part of his charm. Orbiting the stars in the space station R.U. Sirius and taking shuttle trips by rocket, Brewster and his crew of misfits encounter a constantly challenging set of interplanetary anomalies, pushing the limits of space, time and humor continuums.

Tim Rickard, the strip's creator, is an award-winning cartoonist, illustrator and graphic artist for the News & Record in Greensboro, N.C. The multi-talented Rickard has received numerous illustration and graphics awards, including 15 North Carolina Press Association awards (he received the first place awards for both illustration and graphics in 2004); four Society for News Design awards; and a Print magazine regional design award. After writing a popular "Star Wars" parody, he was inspired to create a comic strip that combined the best elements of space adventure and humor. The bold, zany and not-too-bright Brewster Rockit: Space Guy! was born.

Contestants may submit their entry by filling out the form available at the convention location marked by the large Brewster Rockit papier maché rocket display in the main hall. Entries can also be made at the convention website at laconiv.org. A complimentary foam rocket will be given to the first 2,000 entrants in attendance at the convention. The winner will be selected by Tim Rickard, and will be announced at the convention on August 27th (winner does not need to be present to win). Winner's name will appear in the Brewster Rockit comic strip and a special prize will be awarded. This prize is described in detail in the Official Rules.

Condensed Rules:

No Purchase Necessary to enter or win. Void where prohibited. Contest open to persons twenty-one years of age or older. Entries must be received between June 23, 2006 and August 26, 2006. See Official Rules at laconiv.org or comicspage.com for full details.
