KRT To Launch Kids & Teens Elements Package; Adds Popular Tween Site Miss O & FriendsWashington, DC, August 31, 2005 Knight Ridder/Tribune Information Services (KRT) will combine its existing youth offerings into Kids & Teens Elements, a powerful package of stories and visuals for readers ages 5 to 18. In addition, KRT Kids & Teens has partnered with Miss O and Friends™ (www.missOandFriends.com) to offer advice for the 'tween set from both a professional counselor and the 16-year-old co-founder of Miss O. The new Kids & Teens Elements package features centerpiece stories and art and regular columns for elementary, middle and high school readers, with topics ranging from making the most of your family's move to going away to rock 'n' roll camp. The newly combined package, which begins September 1, replaces Kids Elements and KRTeens. Content from Miss O & Friends helps build self-esteem, and encourages girls ages 8 to 12 to "just be" girls. Miss O & Friends was born when co-founder Juliette (then 10) created Miss O as an act of play, with no endgame in mind. Juliette then involved her sister (Miss O), her cousin (Harlie) and other young girls, as well as her Mom (Hermine), an experienced designer, as art director. In early 2004, with the input of many other girls, a company was formed around their simple brilliance. The weekly Kids & Teens Elements package is being sold by On The Mark Media (www.onthemarkmedia.com), the specialty publications division of Tribune Media Services (TMS). It will also be available on KRT Direct (www.krtdirect.com/kidsele/live.htm) and on NewsCom (www.newscom.com). Kids & Teens Elements will still include the best of KRT's existing content for kids and teens, including trivia from World Almanac for Kids; health advice from TeenGrowth.com; games, snacks and activities from FamilyFun Magazine; content from the Chicago Tribune's KidNews, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's kids page and The Dallas Morning News' KidsDay; and teen-written content from the Kansas City Star, San Jose Mercury News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
