Classic Media And Tribune Media Services Enter Into Co-Venture

Classic Media to Manage Worldwide Licensing, Marketing, Home Video and Production Rights for Dick Tracy, Brenda Starr and Broom-Hilda, Among Others

Initial Plans Include Comprehensive Campaign to Support Dick Tracy's 75th Anniversary in October 2006

New York, NY, June 14, 2005 — Classic Media, the New York-based family entertainment company that is home to Lassie and Underdog, and Chicago-based Tribune Media Services (TMS), the content syndication arm of Tribune Company, announced today that the companies have entered into an exclusive co-venture. Through this newly formed alliance, Classic Media will manage the available worldwide licensing, marketing, home video and new production rights for a selected group of TMS' extensive library of popular comic strip characters, including Dick Tracy, Brenda Starr, Gasoline Alley and Broom-Hilda.

"We are thrilled to welcome these beloved characters to the Classic Media family," said Leslie Levine, VP of Licensing and Consumer Products at Classic Media. "We look forward to working with TMS to develop new and exciting ways for consumers to experience these classic characters."

Stephen Tippie, VP of Marketing and Licensing at Tribune Media Services, added, "Classic Media's expertise in managing classic family brands makes them an ideal partner. Our characters have enjoyed years of syndication and licensing success and we feel confident that together, Classic and TMS will be able to build on this strong foundation to create new media and merchandising opportunities for them."

As part of their initial plans for the TMS characters, Classic Media is gearing up to celebrate Dick Tracy's 75th anniversary on October 4, 2006. Classic and TMS are currently developing a comprehensive licensing, merchandising and promotional program to support this milestone. In addition to a new collector's edition DVD package that will include episodes from the classic animated series, several new items of merchandise will be introduced throughout next year.
