Zap2it.com Launches Its First US-Based TV Listings Site En Español For The Arizona Republic

Santa Monica, CA, January 19, 2005 — Zap2it.com®, a division of Tribune Media Services (TMS), has launched its first U.S.-based Spanish language TV listings and information site for lavoz.azcentral.com, the Spanish-language version of The Arizona Republic Web site.

The customized Web site integrates a robust TV listings application into the look and feel of The Arizona Republic's azcentral.com.

"Zap2it is helping The Arizona Republic meet the needs of a growing segment of its users by offering Spanish-language local TV listings," said Barbara Needleman, vice president of Entertainment Products for TMS. "The new site offers Spanish speaking viewers comprehensive TV listings and information about where and when to find their favorite programs, as well as program details to assist them in making viewing choices."

The Entretenimiento button on lavoz.azcentral.com links users to a customized Zap2it TV Web site that provides detailed descriptions of programming available in Spanish; program genre information; an advanced search function to find programming by word, program name, movie title, artist, director, program description, HDTV programming and date; a detailed sports search; and a customized listings function to create a selection of favorite channels for subsequent visits to the site. A help page provides answers to questions regarding the functionality or use of the site.

In addition, The Arizona Republic plans to launch a Spanish TV site for their www.tvymas.com.

While this represents Tribune Media Services' first Spanish language listings site in the U.S., Zap2it provides TV listings and information to Spanish TV sites in Latin America, including Comtech and Prensa Libre, both in Guatemala and Cablevision in Mexico. azcentral.com is Arizona's most-visited Web site and one of the top newspaper-affiliated sites in the U.S. in terms of audience. It serves as the online site for The Arizona Republic, KPNX-TV Channel 12, and La Voz, all Gannett-owned media properties in Phoenix.
